Nov 28 SD Gives!
On Nov. 28th, Children's House Montessori is participating in SD Day of Giving, a statewide day of giving to your favorite charity or nonprofit.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we are proud to offer the Rapid City community a Montessori educational experience. Montessori provides a hands-on, interactive and individually-geared education that provides students a strong foundation in problem solving, higher order thinking and an appreciation for the love of learning, beginning with the principle of grace and courtesy. When given tools to construct meaning to everyday tasks, children will grow to do incredible things!
With your support through a donation, we hope to enhance our environment in order to reach our goal of becoming Montessori accredited for birth through Grade 12. In order to achieve this, we need to expand our teacher education and build on our current infrastructure. We have already grown our school 24% in the last year with anticipation of continued growth. This expected growth requires expansion of our infrastructure.

Primary & Kindergarten (3-6 years old)
Primary classrooms are designed especially for the 3-6 year old child and the entire environment is created to facilitate their learning process. Maria Montessori observed that children learn by doing and wrote that the "hand was the instrument of the mind".
|
Lower Elementary (1st-3rd grades)
Maria Montessori summed up the 6-9 classroom thusly: "The elementary child has reached a new level of development. Before he was interested in things: working with his hands, learning their names. Now he is interested mainly in the how and why...the problem of cause and effect." It is now the job of the elementary teacher to provide the child with the materials and information to discover the interconnectedness of the universe.
|
Upper Elementary (4th-6th grades)
An elementary Montessori classroom is a warm community: a multi-age, stimulating environment with highly trained teachers and materials that invite exploration and research. Children learn to face challenges with confidence, and begin to find their own place in the world around them.
