Children's House Montessori is accredited by the South Dakota Department of Education (SDDOE) and adheres to both state and Montessori learning objectives.
Our Primary classrooms are multi-age with students ages 3-6. Children ages 3 and potty trained can choose from 3 Mornings or 5 Mornings per week. Children ages 4 and up can choose from morning only or full day preschool. We offer a full day kindergarten program. The teacher serving the kindergarten students holds both a South Dakota teaching certificate and a North American Montessori Center Primary Certification (3-6 Year Olds).
Our Lower Elementary program is for students in grades one through three guided by an experienced teacher certified by the SDDOE and the North American Montessori Center. Students in this class benefit from personalized learning in a home-like environment with lots of outdoor time and regular field trips.
Our Upper Elementary program is for students in grades four to six guided by two teachers, a Montessori trained and certified Upper Elementary Guide and a SDDOE certified teacher with a master's in secondary education. Students in this classroom expand their knowledge of math, science, and language arts using hands-on and project-based learning opportunities.

Admissions Process
1) If you are not familiar with the Montessori Method or you have never visited our school, please reach out to schedule a tour
2) Admissions and Enrollment takes place in February for returning families and in March for new families for the upcoming school year 3) Once admissions is open, you will fill out an application using TADs. We will post the link on our web site. 4) You will receive an email notifying you if you have been accepted for the upcoming school year 5) We will host an orientation in August for families to become familiar with our school |

Application Fee & Deposit Requirements
Non-refundable application fee of $100 for all programs. Non-refundable deposit required at time of enrollment. Deposit is $300 for 3 Morning, 5 Morning Primary, and Homeschool Hybrid and $400 for full day programs (5 Full Day Primary, Kindergarten, Elementary). A student's spot is not secured until this deposit is paid. This amount goes towards your tuition. |
Payment Plan and Tuition Agreement
During enrollment, you will be asked to create a Tuition Agreement which states your family's intention to pay tuition for the upcoming school year. Tuition Agreements and Payment Plans are completed through TADs. Discounts A 2% discount applied to tuition for families who pay in full by July 15th. A 3% discount applied to tuition for families with siblings. The sibling and Pay in Full discount can be combined. A $100 referral credit given to families who are responsible for the enrollment of a new family. |

- We are our child’s primary educator.
- We are entering into a partnership with CHM and we agree to work closely with our child’s teachers to help our child grow emotionally, socially and academically.
- We will strive to be involved in the school community and support the activities throughout the school year.
- We will know and comply with the school policies and procedures outlined in the Student Handbook. The current year’s Student Handbook is available online and the new handbook will be available online and a link will be sent to you. _______ (initials)
- We agree that our child’s success at CHM is dependent upon regular attendance and punctuality. We will strive to ensure our child arrives on time, maintains regular attendance and if an absence is necessary, we will notify the school in a timely manner.
- We are aware of and agree to the following financial responsibilities and commitments to CHM:
- I/We are to pay the non-refundable application fee.
- I/We are to pay the non-refundable deposit, which secures our child's spot and which is applied towards next year's tuition.
- I/We understand that we forfeit the deposit if our child does not attend CHM.
- I/We understand that we must give the school a 30-day notice in writing if we leave prior to the end of the school year. We will be responsible for paying the remaining tuition if such a departure occurs. Any exceptions are at the discretion of the CHM Board of Directors.

Non-Refundable Application Fee & Deposit
- I understand the application fee is required but does not apply towards tuition.
- I understand the deposit amount remaining after the application fee will be applied towards tuition.
- I understand the deposit will be forfeited if the registered child does not attend CHM.
- If my child is not toilet trained by the first day of school and does not attend CHM in September, I understand I forfeit the deposit for the first semester. If my child is not toilet trained by the first day of the second semester, I understand I forfeit the deposit for the second semester. If my child is toilet trained but there are no vacancies at CHM in January, I understand that my second semester deposit can be applied to the 2024-2025 school year but if I chose not to return to CHM, the deposit will not be refunded.
- I understand the Materials and Activities Fee is used for enrichment opportunities including but not limited to music, art, yoga gymnasium rental and classroom materials.
- If you are responsible for the enrollment of a student new to CHM, you will receive $100 towards your tuition. Said student will need to mention you by name on the application form.
Scholarship
Children's House Montessori provides scholarships to families with students attending K-6th grade who meet income guidelines through South Dakota Partners in Education. Please click below to visit the SDPE web site for more information on eligibility and application.
